Autonomous mobility stops being a pilot and becomes a market in 2026. Madrid is where Europe’s deployment, regulation and capital meet: EMT’s SAE Level 4 autonomous bus has been running since September 2025, with an 8.4/10 user rating. The Villaverde Mobility Sandbox gives operators 20 km² of real urban environment to test in (the largest regulatory sandbox in Europe). also from a regulatory standpoint, 2026 has brought UNECE global framework for automated driving systems, the EU’s Automotive Industrial Action Plan, and new regulatory developments from Spain’s Dirección General de Tráfico.

MAMS2026 will cover the following themes: the international race for AV scale-up, lessons from European pilots, the regulatory framework from Europe to Spanish law, Madrid’s roadmap and the future of autonomous mobility in both passenger transport and logistics.
