About
Last modified on 11 February, 2026The Knowledge Base on Connected and Automated Driving (CAD) stands as the ultimate repository consolidating knowledge and experiences related to Cooperative, Connected and Automated Mobility (CCAM) in Europe and worldwide. Originally created as part of the Horizon 2020 ARCADE Support Action, and later supported by the FAME project, in line with the European Partnership on CCAM vision to support harmonisation of European Research & Innovation (R&I) efforts to accelerate the implementation of innovative CCAM technologies and services, it is now managed by CCAMbassador.
This platform provides a common and searchable baseline to ensure transferability of knowledge for future research, development and testing of CCAM. It is continuously updated to reflect the evolving CCAM R&I landscape and based on stakeholders’ feedback and input.
It centralises targeted and structured information on R&I projects and demonstration activities, common terminologies and methodologies for testing and assessment of CCAM, as well as related regulations and procedures, standards, strategies and action plans, both on a European and national level, in Europe and worldwide. It also relays CCAM-related news & events, and offers opinion leaders in the field the opportunity to share their perspective on CCAM.
The tool features essential elements for the identification of future R&I needs to support the development and updates of the CCAM Partnership Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA).
This platform thrives on knowledge sharing and relies on collaborative exchanges of information with the CCAM community. Feedback and contributions are encouraged, so get in touch and get involved!
What Does the CAD Knowledge Base Offer?
R&I Projects
This section provides a Database of Research and Innovation (R&I) Projects and demonstration activities in the field of Connected, Cooperative, and Automated Mobility (CCAM), searchable by keyword, demonstration country, and funding type. A map of Testing and Demonstration Sites categorised by vehicle type, testing environment and related projects can also be found, as well as a collection of Lessons Learned and CCAM tools from these projects.
Regulations and Policies
This section provides an overview of Regulations and Policies across EU Member States as well as European and international frameworks related to automated vehicles approval on public roads.
Strategies and Action Plans
This section provides a curated list of roadmaps, strategic plans, and related reports on the future development of Connected and Automated Mobility from European institutions, Member States, industry stakeholders, and their representative networks and associations.
Standards
Standardisation is the process by which specifications that define how a product should be designed or how it should perform are established. Automated mobility poses significant challenges for standardisation and regulatory bodies. This section provides a database of standard-developing Bodies and of standards relevant to CCAM.
Evaluation Methodologies Guidelines
This section provides guidelines on how to set up and conduct evaluations or assessments of both direct and indirect impacts, including the Common Evaluation Methodology for CCAM (EU-CEM). It offers support materials to assist CCAM projects in performing their evaluations.
Data Sharing
A Data Sharing Framework addressing key aspects in data management for CCAM can be accessed from this section, as well as the CCAM Test Data Space (TDS). The TDS is a demonstrator showcasing the concept of federated data sharing. Users can also find a Data Catalogue comprising relevant CCAM data sources and a Topics in Data Sharing subsection which includes several resources on the subject of data.
Glossary and Taxonomies
This section consists of taxonomies developed to facilitate standardisation and terminological harmonisation in the field of CCAM, with a focus on the glossary and taxonomy developed under the FAME project. The Glossary provides standardized definitions for key terms related to CCAM, while the Taxonomy online tool presents definitions as well as a standardized and harmonized classification system for CCAM-related terms, enhancing comparability and compatibility in CCAM-enabled solutions and services.
EUCAD
The Knowledge Base is also home to the previous editions of the EUCAD conferences and symposia websites, hosting these events’ presentation material, recordings and proceedings reports.
