Two CCAM reports are now available to read: the CCAM Biennial Full Report (2023-2025) and the CCAM Partnership Performance Assessment and Projects Monitoring Report (2024-2025)
Two new reports provide complementary insights into the progress of Connected, Cooperative and Automated Mobility (CCAM) in Europe. The CCAM Partnership Performance Assessment and Projects Monitoring Report (2024โ2025) examines progress towards strategic objectives and remaining challenges, while the CCAM Biennial Report (June 2023โDecember 2025) highlights the achievements of the Partnership and the capabilities developed to support deployment.
1. CCAM Partnership Performance Assessment and Projects Monitoring Report (2024โ2025)
Prepared by fka GmbH, the report assesses 38 CCAM Partnership projects through desk research, KPI analysis and stakeholder consultations.
The findings confirm progress in vehicle safety, validation methodologies, knowledge sharing and common evaluation tools. Notably, no fatal or severe accidents were reported during more than 115,000 km of project testing. The adoption of shared methods and tools has also increased significantly.
However, challenges remain in large-scale demonstrations, cross-border testing, data sharing, traffic efficiency and societal acceptance. The report recommends refining performance indicators, strengthening common validation frameworks and improving coordination between projects. It also highlights the importance of involving public authorities and supporting more systematic knowledge exchange.
The report concludes that moving from individual demonstrations to scalable CCAM deployment requires coordinated action across the European ecosystem.
2. CCAM Biennial Report: June 2023 to December 2025
The Biennial Report presents the results of 38 Horizon Europe-funded projects and examines how European research and innovation are building capabilities for CCAM deployment.
Key achievements include:
- Real-world testing: 27 projects tested approximately 135 vehicles over more than 115,000 km.
- Demonstration sites: 43 sites across Europe, exceeding the SRIA target of 30.
- Common methodologies: 26 projects used the European Common Evaluation Methodology (EU-CEM).
- Knowledge sharing: The CAD Knowledge Base now lists 480 CCAM projects.
- Emerging technologies: 76% of projects explored areas such as AI, data analytics and cybersecurity.
The report showcases progress in autonomous shuttle services, traffic management, infrastructure readiness, safety validation and cross-border transport. It also stresses that successful deployment depends on interoperable infrastructure, data exchange, regulatory cooperation and public engagementโnot vehicle technology alone.
Looking ahead, the report calls for Europe to build on these achievements to accelerate deployment, strengthen industrial competitiveness and maintain technological leadership.
