ITS World Congress 2027 Call for Contributons opens in Birmingham under the theme “Connect Ideas. Transform Transport”
The 33rd ITS World Congress will bring the global intelligent transport community to Birmingham, United Kingdom, on 25-29 October 2027, uniting policymakers, industry leaders, researchers, innovators and cities to explore how smart mobility solutions can move from innovation to real-world deployment.
Co-organised by ERTICO – ITS Europe, ITS America and ITS Asia-Pacific, the ITS World Congress is a leading international platform for intelligent transport systems (ITS) and digital mobility. Building on a tradition dating back to 1994, the Congress fosters public-private collaboration, knowledge exchange and the development of solutions to shared transport challenges.
Hosted at the National Exhibition Centre (NEC) Birmingham, the Congress will bring plenary sessions, technical discussions, exhibition areas and demonstrations together under one roof, creating opportunities to connect expertise, showcase technologies and accelerate deployment.
Under the theme “Connect Ideas. Transform Transport,” Birmingham 2027 aims to link global innovation with local action. The West Midlands offers a dynamic environment for this ambition, combining research excellence, advanced testbeds, mobility start-ups and major international industry players. With 11 universities and a strong focus on inclusive and sustainable mobility, the region provides an ecosystem for developing, testing and scaling transport innovations.
The Congress programme will address four key topics: Trustworthy and Resilient Systems, focusing on cybersecurity, interoperability and resilient infrastructure; Next-Generation ITS, exploring artificial intelligence, connected and automated mobility, robotics and digital twins; Connected and Integrated Services, covering multimodal mobility, smart logistics and connected vehicle services; and Deploying ITS at Scale, examining the infrastructure, governance, policy and operational approaches needed to implement solutions effectively. The Call for Contributions ((Special Interest Sessions – SIS, Technical Papers, Research Papers, and Posters)) has just opened until Friday 22 January 2027 at 23:59 CET
By connecting global expertise with practical deployment opportunities, the ITS World Congress 2027 will provide a platform for stakeholders to exchange knowledge, build partnerships and advance safer, smarter and more sustainable mobility.
