5G Strategic Deployment Agenda for Connected and Automated Mobility (CAM) on Roads
Last modified on 15 January, 2026The Smart Networks and Services Joint Undertaking (SNS JU) has released the 5G Strategic Deployment Agenda for Connected and Automated Mobility on Roads (5G SDA for CAM).
The 5G SDA for CAM provides guidance to stakeholders involved in the deployment and use of 5G for CAM systems on roads, including mobile network operators, tower companies, telecom vendors, road operators, vehicle manufacturers (OEMs) and their tier1/tier2 automotive suppliers.
The document outlines the implementation strategy for the deployment of 5G connectivity infrastructures along the major European road transport networks (TEN-T corridors), or “5G corridors”, enabling advanced CAM use cases and seamless 5G service provision at border crossing areas. It also provides guidance on investment, definition of cooperation models and deployment roadmaps that will facilitate the roll-out of six service categories: Road CAM services, Logistics, Digital Twins, Connected Passenger Services, Software-defined Vehicles and Associated vertical services.
The 5G SDA for CAM will guide the second Connected Europe Facility programme, Digital Part (CEF2 Digital), and builds on best practices and lessons learnt from the first waves of 5G corridor deployment projects, co-funded under CEF Digital between 2022 and 2025.
