CCAM Unveils its Proposal for an Automotive Partnership in the next European budget

CCAM, ERTRAC, 2Zero and EARPA, in coordination with EUCAR & CLEPA, recently published a proposal for a joint Partnership for the Automotive sector in the next European budget. The proposal is accessible here. The proposal answers to one of the recommendations of the Automotive Action Plan.

This partnership should  reinforce the global competitiveness of the EU automotive industry and of Europe as an innovation powerhouse, safeguarding jobs and creating economic growth in the EU. The partnership would build on the success of the CCAM, 2Zero and potentially other partnerships in the automotive sector.

The proposal suggests guiding principles that would allow speedier programme definition and projects’ implementations. The partnership should be an ambitious and impact-driven instrument to reach its objectives. It should aim to the exploitation of the whole innovation value chain from European collaborative research to accelerated market deployment.

Vision and key characteristics of the Partnership

Strategic objectives: the core mission should be to reinforce the global competitiveness of the automotive industry and Europe as an innovation powerhouse, to safeguard jobs and create economic growth in the EU.

  • The partnership should also contribute to address societal challenges such as Carbon Neutrality, Circular Economy, Resilience and European technology sovereignty.

  • Exploiting the whole innovation value chain from applied research to industrialisation, that is also open to disruptive technologies.

  • High-level steering involving both industry leaders and the European Commission. o Governance involving the entire innovation value chain.

Support for innovation-friendly regulation:

  • Provide input to shape forward-looking, innovation-enabling regulatory frameworks.
