EU Road Safety Cluster publishes new White Paper
The EU Road Safety Cluster brings together several EU-funded projects to collaborate on the subject of road safety, promoting a safe, inclusive, sustainable and user-centric mobility system. Cluster Projects have recently published a new White Paper, Advancing Road Safety Through Data, bringing together insights from multiple activities. The paper examines persistent challenges in road safety data — including fragmentation, under-reporting and limited interoperability — and presents innovative solutions such as AI-based analytics, digital twins and federated data spaces. It concludes with concrete policy recommendations to support proactive, evidence-based road safety and the EU’s Vision Zero objectives.
The initiative was coordinated by project PHOEBE, and featured insights from V4SAFETY, AI4CCAM, EVENTS, SOTERIA, CAMBER, FRODDO, PHOEBE, iDriving, ProtAct-Us, and SAFETeen and EvoRoads.
Advancing Road Safety Through Data presents key insights from the EU Road Safety Cluster, highlighting how integrated, high-quality data can transform road safety policy. Drawing on multiple Horizon Europe projects, the paper examines challenges in data availability, quality, and governance, and showcases innovative solutions such as AI-based analytics, digital twins, and federated data spaces. It concludes with clear policy recommendations to support proactive, evidence-based road safety and Vision Zero goals.
