29 November 2024

The European Commission and Singapore’s Ministry of Digital Development and Information have signed an agreement to mark the beginning of cooperation between the EU’s artificial intelligence (AI) Office and Singapore’s AI Safety Institute.

The two administrations agreed to address the safety of general-purpose AI models through information exchanges and best practices, joint testing and evaluations, development of tools and benchmarks, standardisation activities, as well as research on how to advance safe and trustworthy AI. Additionally, they agreed to exchange views on trends and future technological developments in the field of AI, with further areas of collaboration remaining an option.

The Administrative Arrangement signed constitutes an important deliverable of the EU-Singapore Digital Partnership signed in 2023.
