Feedback sought on EC guidelines for high-risk AI systems classification
The European Commission has issued draft guidelines clarifying the classification of artificial intelligence (AI) high-risk systems to support AI providers’ and deployers’ assessment of their system.
Under the AI Act, a limited list of use cases of AI systems are considered high-risk when they endanger health, safety or fundamental rights. The draft guidelines are published on the AI Act Single Information Platform, where their consultation is made easier through quick-access summaries and an easy-to-navigate explorer for browsing specific areas and use cases.
EC has opened a consultation to collect feedback from providers and developers of AI systems, businesses and public authorities as well as academia, research institutions and citizens. Stakeholders are invited to share their views on the clarity of the guidelines and usefulness of the practical examples provided to illustrate how the classification should be assessed in different areas and use cases.
The consultation is opened until 23 June 2026. Only the responses received through the online questionnaire will be considered and reflected in the final summary report. For any questions or issues related to this consultation, contact CNECT-A2@ec.europa.eu.
