Project MOBILITIES FOR EU has launched Spain’s first autonomous on-demand bus operating at Mercamadrid, the country’s largest food distribution platform.

By combining autonomous driving technology, 5G connectivity, and on-demand operations, the fully electric autonomous shuttle is designed to provide flexible and sustainable mobility services within the busy logistics hub – which serves more than 20,000 people and 15,000 vehicles every day.

The launch represents an important step in the transition towards smarter and more connected transport networks. By testing autonomous mobility in a practical setting, the project contributes to building the evidence needed to support future large-scale deployment and integration of automated transport services.
