Recommendations to accelerate the adoption of weather-resilient automated mobility solutions
19 March 2025
The ROADVIEW EC project has been at the forefront in the development of solutions to mitigate weather-related challenges to Connected and Automated Vehicles (CAVs) operations.
The project has released a policy brief highlighting recommendations to address the key regulatory and policy barriers hindering commercialisation and deployment:
- Harmonised CAV Testing Framework – A unified European approach to ensure cross-border validation, especially under adverse weather conditions.
- Liability Framework for CAVs – Defining responsibility in accidents, particularly when following Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) driving advice in extreme weather.
- Privacy & Security in CAV Data Collection – Addressing GDPR challenges while ensuring safe and effective data sharing within the CCAM ecosystem.
- AI Best Practices & Guidelines – Clear regulatory frameworks under the AI Act for transparent, effective, and compliant AI-driven decision-making.
- Regulatory Hybrid Testing Methodology – EU-wide guidelines to integrate virtual and real-world testing for CAVs.
- Mandatory V2X Communication Standards – Strengthening regulatory frameworks for safe, interoperable, and large-scale adoption of V2X technology.
