Several Autonomous Vehicle Trials and Experimentations taking Place in Europe
Several autonomous vehicle trials and experimentations are being carried out in different European cities, including one open to the pubic in the centre of Barcelona. These trials mark a significant landmark in the deployment of fully autonomous vehicles in different environments and conditions.
Autonomous Robobus trial open to the public in the centre of Barcelona
From 10 to 14 March 2025, WeRide and Renault Group are offering to the public a free autonomous Robobus trial service in the centre of Barcelona. The service operates on a 2km circular route with four stops in the city. This trial marks an important milestone for the deployment of automated transport technologies in dense and complex urban environments and is the first Spanish test of WeRide and Renault Level-4 autonomous vehicles for public transport.
Experimentation towards commercial deployment ongoing in France
Experimentation is going on from March 10 to April 19 2025 in Valence, France as the result of a collaboration between beti, Macif, Renault Group, and WeRide. The goal of this trial is to launch a Level-4 automated mobility service in France’s Dôme region in July 2025 connecting the Valence TGV station with the surrounding Business Park, serving over 150 companies and more than 3,000 employees.
Autonomous shuttle project at the airport of Zurich
Since January 2025 WeRide is also conducting an experimentation at the Zurich Airport (Switzerland) aiming to make it easier for employees to travel between terminals.
