TTI: The need for autonomous vehicle safety metrics

Ben Simpson, safety researcher at TRL, has written an opinion article for Traffic Technology Today in which he discusses the challenges and recommendations concerning safety metrics for automated vehicles. He details the problems of the currently used safety metrics and introduces a novel study, assessing the suitability of a range of metrics to measure the safety of automated vehicles.
