Liveability
The liveability impact area addresses the impacts of CCAM on the suitability or quality of living in the studied area(s) by analysing indicators from other impact areas to perform an integrated evaluation of their overall implications.
Although liveability is sometimes used interchangeably with quality of life, it focuses specifically on the collective characteristics of an area rather than on individuals’ experiences. Liveability encompasses a wide range of environmental and socio-economic factors, reflecting what is often described as “the sum of the factors that add up to a community’s quality of life—including the built and natural environments, economic prosperity, social stability and equity, educational opportunity and cultural, entertainment and recreational opportunities”.
Liveability is closely linked to transport, urban development, and public health. Consequently, its measurement requires a broad, multi-scale approach, including evaluations at local, city, and regional levels. Metrics typically span environmental conditions, public health outcomes, community cohesion and economic dimensions, considering both direct and indirect impacts.
The next figure shows the main components of the land use impact area.
