Description of Tool
The CCAM-ready Infrastructure Guide and Risk Aversion Tool is a practical decision-support process developed within Augmented CCAM (D6.7). Inspired by Sustainable Urban Mobility Planning principles and adapted to the specificities of CCAM-ready infrastructure, it organises the full planning lifecycle into six interconnected phases — from initial policy alignment to continuous improvement and scaling. The tool is designed for public authorities, road and traffic operators, infrastructure managers, and planners responsible for preparing networks for CCAM deployment. It supports users in validating readiness, structuring investment decisions, reducing deployment risk, and promoting multi-use, no-regret infrastructure choices across different governance contexts. Each phase is broken down into structured decision nodes, each addressing a key question planners must answer before moving forward. For every step, the tool provides objectives, methodological guidance, relevant tools and resources, and multi-use justification — ensuring decisions are evidence-based, proportionate, and aligned with operational and strategic goals.
Example of Tool Application
Large-scale CCAM deployment requires coordinated, risk-aware infrastructure investment. This tool helps users avoid fragmented or premature decisions, support the development of CCAM-ready corridors and networks, and structure deployment across different contexts — from urban nodes to interurban corridors — in a staged, scalable manner.
