This document specifies performance requirements for surrogate targets used to assess the system detection and activation performance of active safety systems.
This document specifies the properties of pedestrian targets that represent an adult or a child in terms of size, shape, reflection properties, etc. for testing purposes. The document addresses the detection requirements for a pedestrian target in terms of sensing technologies commonly in use at the time of publication of this document, and where possible, anticipated future sensing technologies. It also addresses methodologies to verify the target response properties to these sensors, as well as some performance requirements for the target carrier.
This document does not address the test procedures in terms of speeds, positions, or timing of events. Performance criteria for the active safety system being evaluated are also not addressed.

This document specifies the properties of a PTW target (PTWT) representing a Powered Two-Wheeler in terms of size, shape, reflection properties, etc. for testing purposes. This document addresses the detection requirements for a PTWT in terms of sensing technologies commonly in use at the time of publication of this document, and where possible, anticipated future sensing technologies. It also addresses methodologies to verify the target response properties to these sensors, as well as performance requirements for the target carrier. The PTWTs specified in this document reflect two-wheeled vehicles corresponding to UN Category L3 and to UN Category L1, with the restrictions that the vehicle is not intended for human propulsion (for example pedalling) and its two wheels are inline. Two types of PTWT are specified in this document; one corresponding to a motorcycle and one corresponding to a scooter/moped. This document also addresses requirements for motion and positioning during test for PTWT including target carrier system. This document does not address the test procedures in terms of speeds, positions, or timing of events. Performance criteria for the active safety system are also not addressed.

This document provides test methods to determine the properties and performance of target carriers, in combination with specified targets. This document specifies how to validate the target carrier plus target regarding the dynamic performance versus the requirements and tolerances specified in test protocols. The main characteristics validated in this document are the speed, yaw rate and lateral deviation. This document does not address the detection characteristics of the target carrier plus target. This document specifies performance requirements for surrogate small child targets (SCT) used to assess the system detection and activation performance of active safety systems and Automated Driving Systems (ADS). This document specifies the properties of targets that represent two small children in terms of size, shape, reflection properties, etc. for testing purposes. The two targets represent a 9-12 months old infant and a 2-year-old toddler. The document addresses the detection requirements for the targets in terms of sensing technologies commonly in use at the time of publication of this document, and where possible, anticipated future sensing technologies. It also addresses methodologies to verify the target response properties to these sensors. This document does not address the test procedures in terms of speeds, positions, or timing of events. Performance criteria for the active safety system being evaluated are also not addressed. NOTE Related test procedures using small child targets according to this document can be found in ISO 4273 and ISO 23374.

This document specifies a method to evaluate the behaviour of a vehicle equipped with an autonomous emergency braking system (AEBS), or dynamic brake support (DBS) during several accident scenarios. Those accidents occur during a straight-line driving when the vehicle under test (VUT) approaches another vehicle in the same lane. Both vehicles are aligned in longitudinal axis to each other.
The most important part of the vehicle behaviour during these accidents scenarios is the capacity to avoid or mitigate the collision.
Systems requiring driver intervention are not in the scope of this document.
NOTE Depending on accidentology, only a part of the scenarios can be used for an evaluation of performance. AEB system evaluation based upon this document is limited to longitudinal accident scenarios.

This document specifies test methods to evaluate performance of the autonomous emergency braking system (AEBS) in car to pedestrian collision situations. Forward collision warning system (FCWS) is part of AEBS when it provides warning before braking intervention.
Vehicle to pedestrian accidents occur when a vehicle under test (VUT) drives in straight line and either a pedestrian walks longitudinal on the same road or the pedestrian is approaching perpendicular the road.
A system requiring a driver intervention is not in scope of the document.
