Enhancing integration and interoperability of CCAM eco-system
The EC project IN2CCAM approach is based on the implementation and integration in the traffic management system of enhanced Physical, Digital and Operational Infrastructures (PDOIs) to enrich CCAM services and increase safety and traffic efficiency.
IN2CCAM developed and implemented a set of physical, digital and operational solutions, tested and evaluated in real-world conditions and simulation environments in Living Labs (LL) in Tampere (Finland), Trikala (Greece), Turin (Italy), Vigo (Spain), Bari (Italy) and Quadrilatero (Portugal). Some physical infrastructures in each LL are updated so that the autonomous vehicles can travel in dynamic dedicated lanes, use intelligent traffic lights and intelligent road signs.
True interoperability in CCAM means coordinating interactions across vehicles, road users, infrastructure, and control centres in real time. This demands a coherent, integrated system where vehicles communicate with each other, the infrastructure, but also pedestrians and traffic management hubs to enable safer and more responsive mobility services
The project has released a brochure compiling all key takeaways, from Living Lab learnings and future outlook to Lessons learned and policy recommendations.
