FAME Final Event

FAME Final Event

16 Jun 2025

Online

After three years of work, the EC-funded FAME project presented their results during several distinct online sessions, which could be followed separately, and in isolation, according to one’s centre of interest.

The main mission of FAME has been to engage CCAM stakeholders and capitalize on shared knowledge, to improve cooperation, consensus building and data sharing for CCAM testing and large-scale demonstration activities in Europe.

FAME approach is based on the integration and further development of existing elements such as stakeholder networks (e.g. CCAM Partnership) and the CAD Knowledge Base, namely to provide a long-term coordination framework for R&I and large-scale testing and evaluation activities in Europe.

FAME European framework for testing on public roads includes a Common Evaluation Methodology, a CCAM Test Data Space, a Taxonomy tool, an ethics framework, and an inventory of current legislation, approval processes and procedures. It is intended to enable comparability, complementarity and upscaling of R&I results for future research, development and testing of CCAM-enabled solutions and services, and facilitate the evaluation of their wider impacts.

Each “building block” presented their detailed results in dedicated sessions, after a general overview session, which also highlighted other stand-alone results such as policy briefs or the EUCAD networking events, which FAME co-organised with the European Commission and the CCAM Partnership.

The presentations and webinar recording per session are available for download/replay hereunder:

14:00-14:45 CCAM Data Sharing Framework & Test Data Space

This session presented more in details the CCAM Data Sharing Framework and CCAM Test Data Demonstrator.

The CCAM Data Sharing Framework builds on knowledge and best practices of 15+ years of managing data from testing ADAS and CCAM on public roads. The framework cover agreements and legal frameworks, data protection, data and metadata description, as well as administrative procedures and data governance. What is new: federated data sharing is covered as a mean to increase and facilitate data sharing in the CCAM domain.

The CCAM Test Data Space implements the principles of the Data Sharing Framework, into a data space prototype. This session will demonstrate the capabilities of the data space, its functions, and how to ensure trust between the actors. Furthermore, the session will outline the future governance and development of the data space.

15:00-15:45 Recommendations for a European framework for testing on public roads: harmonized legislation & procedures for permit

The regulatory landscape on testing CCAM on public roads differ between EU member states. This hinder efficient testing schemes and cross-border testing. In the FAME project, an inventory of all EU member states + Norway, Switzerland and the UK was made, underlining the different approaches (by 2023).
