23 September 2025

The European Connected and Autonomous Vehicle Alliance (ECAVA) is an industrial discussion and advisory forum that brings together key stakeholders from across the automotive value chain, including vehicle manufacturers, suppliers, technology and tool providers, and smaller innovative tech companies and start-ups.

ECAVA’s overall objective is to coordinate and accelerate technological developments and investments in software-defined, AI powered, connected and autonomous vehicle technologies by technology companies and research organisations active in the sector in the EU. The Alliance activities will be focused on software-defined vehicles (SDV), hardware computing architectures and automotive electronics, AI models, and the development, piloting and testing of autonomous driving.

The European Commission acts as facilitator to the Industrial Alliance, promoting its activities. The European Commission and Member States act as observers to the Alliance and its Working Groups. The Working Groups on specific industrial priority topics of the automotive industry are proposed by either Steering Committee Members, the European Commission or participating Member States.

Any organisation with relevant existing or planned activities in the areas of software-defined AI-powered, connected and autonomous vehicles, associations, and research and technology organisations, can join the Alliance, subject to meeting the Terms outlined in the Alliance Terms of Reference. They can do so by signing the Alliance Declaration. Once accepted as members, organisations can join one or more Working Groups. Application for the Alliance remains open indefinitely and organisations may apply and join at any time.
