09:05 – 10:20 Session 1: Modernizing the European Road Network in fostering CCAM, seamless connectivity, and green energy for sustainable transportation solutions across Europe

This session delves into the transformative potential of modernizing the European road network in fostering CCAM, seamless connectivity, and green energy for sustainable transportation solutions across Europe. It explores the network’s objectives, benefits, and adoption strategies through interactive discussions, and Q&A sessions. The insights from the session are expected to contribute to our efforts towards building efficient, more connected, and modern road transport system in Europe.

Closing Remarks and Next Steps

10:20 – 10:45 Coffee Break
10:45 – 12:15 Session 2: Common Evaluation Methodology and Data Sharing Framework

Sharing knowledge, experiences and data is key to the success of Connected, Cooperative & Automated Mobility (CCAM) development. In this session we will tell you about the Common Evaluation Methodology (CEM), the draft handbook will go public a few weeks later, so be among the first to find out about best practices, and join us in discussing how to assess societal impacts of CCAM. Sharing of data is addressed in the newly updated Data Sharing Framework (DFS), and this session will also focus on sharing of scenario data. For proposal writers, we will address building-in evaluation processes and data sharing in project proposals.

  • Introduction to FAME and Framework for testing CCAM on public roadsYvonne Barnard, Senior Research Fellow, University of Leeds (download presentation)

12:15 – 13:15 Lunch
13:15 – 14:30 Session 3: Remote Management Operations

Remote management operations constitute an essential part of early deployments of CCAM services, which characterizes all possible interactions between a human agent, in particular the remote operator located outside the vehicle, and a system, in this case considering an automated driving system which is responsible to perform the dynamic driving task (remote driving is excluded from the scope). As recently described by a SAE standard on remote assistance use case based on a large literature review, remote management encompasses activities such as system monitoring, dispatch strategies, remote assistance that are related to specific driving tasks such as tactical tasks, and other functions related to passenger transport as a service such as strategic tasks. The session will explore the challenges and discuss the necessity of remote management from an operational transport service perspective with the panelists, who will share their insights and experience based on real life (pre)deployment and engage in an interactive discussion, allowing the audience to participate
