Accomodation & Transport
Given the limited availability of public transport in the area, JRC will organize transportation upon arrival1 and departure (from/to Milan airports/train station to/from hotel/JRC), and during the days of the Conference from/to pick-up/drop-off points (specific hotels)2 to/from JRC.
Upon arrival/departure from/to the airport/train station
A shuttle will pick up participants either from Milan airports/train station to your hotel or directly to the JRC.
To enable JRC to provide this service, accurately fill in details (departure/arrival times, airline, selected hotel) in the registration form2. Please select one of the listed hotels2 in the Hotels section or an alternative hotel of your choice and specify the details in the Additional Info section.
During the days of the Conference
During the conference (side events included), buses will pick up participants from designated stops (clearly marked with the conference visual ID), in front of the main entrance of Hotels2 listed below. You are welcome to stay at any other hotel of your choice and take advantage of the bus service from/to the closest designated stop (the 4 bus routes have been designed to cover as many areas as possible).
The buses will run twice daily, in the morning to JRC, and in the evening to hotels along the same route (detailed information, including the timetable, will be communicated in due course).
Shuttles timetables during the Conference
If you haven’t filled in your travel details during registration, you are kindly requested to make alternative transportation arrangements: refer to list of available taxi services in Ispra and its surroundings on this page). Consider that these taxis are regional and thus you should book them in advance to secure a ride.
Departure information (May 15th)
If you are travelling back from locations others than the airport of Milan Malpensa (other airport or central railway station), or for plane departing from Malpensa before 17:00, and you have filled in travel details in the registration form, ad-hoc transport will be provided accordingly.
If you are departing from Milan Malpensa airport, shuttle buses will depart from JRC at:
- 14:00 (two buses)
- 17:00 (one bus)
The travel time to Milan Malpensa Airport is approximately one hour, plus the time needed to disembark your luggage at the Airport. We thus recommend that you should allow 3 hours between the departure of the bus and that of your flight. If you are not travelling back on 15/05, transportation to hotels will be organised for those who have filled in travel details during registration. However, JRC will not provide transportation from hotels to airports/ train stations either on the 15/5 or later.
