Next-gen Physical & Digital Infrastructure support solutions for CCAM large-scale deployment
The EC AUGMENTED CCAM (ACCAM) project aims to understand, harmonise and evaluate in an augmented manner, adapted and novel support concepts of Physical, Digital and Communication infrastructure (PDI) to advance the infrastructure readiness for large-scale deployment of Connected and Automated Mobility (CCAM) solutions.
After one year and a half, the project has finalised its Use Cases aiming to describe how the automated vehicle functionality (ODD and further) is expected to change with the anticipated PDI support. These deal with PDI support for AV services about Emergency Vehicle Approaching, Traffic Management optimisation, Logistics optimisation, protection of equipped/connected and non-equipped/connected Vulnerable Road Users (VRUs), Road Works as well Localisation, Minimum Risk Manoeuvre (MRM) and Insertion driving cases of AVs. The PDI- enabled services for CCAM are going to be validated in the seven pilot sites of the project in Spain, Latvia and France.
Moreover, ACCAM has released its Harmonized prioritized PDI support classification schema for CCAM, addressing the needs of road infrastructure operators, decision makers, as well as any type of road user. Embedded in the schema, High Definition (HD) maps & Digital Twins are going to support in different ways the pilot sites implementations.
ACCAM has also come up with the first version of its common Service-Oriented CCAM Architecture. The PDI elements and the other layers of the architecture are connected with 5G communication networks, which enable seamless, high-speed data exchange.
More details about these different results are available in the project newsletter.
