The aim of the Symposium is to gather scientists, engineers, and policymakers to dive into the challenges and innovations surrounding the pursuit of zero traffic casualties with highly automated vehicles. 

The event will focus on the latest developments in automated vehicle technology, particularly those addressing the need for these vehicles to understand their own condition and environment to ensure safety and efficiency, including namely: 

• Enhancing self-awareness and situational awareness; 
• Fault detection and estimation frameworks, including exploration of real-world effects on fault detection;
• Motion planning strategies for safe navigation, considering observed objects and potential occlusions.
